The trend we see most often is a white painted cabinet. This color is the most versatile and timeless for cabinetry – allowing the homeowner a wide range of styling options. White can be modern with a sleek concrete look countertop, or traditional with a beautiful granite countertop, or a coastal look with soft blue or green accents of tile.

Another popular cabinet color is gray in many different shades. “Greige” is a combination of gray and beige and a great way to use color in the cabinet without committing to warm or cool. Dark grays are being used for a dramatic and strong cabinet style. Soft, light gray seems to be the most widely chosen though and homeowners add dramatic effects with black countertops or softer looks with marble-look tops.

Stained cabinets are still popular in our Central Texas area but the colors have veered away from the darker espresso stain to a more natural wood tone. Clear maple is making a comeback and looks wonderful in a modern kitchen – pair it with soft green accents and you have the perfect “zen” feel to your room.

And the hottest, newest trend in the cabinet market – blues or greens! We now have Navy Blue as a standard paint option in our Midcontinent Cabinet line and are seeing it used for base cabinets paired with white painted wall cabinets. Another way to incorporate the blue or green painted cabinet is as a feature color on a kitchen island. And green cabinets in a bathroom – yes please! Dark green is strong and beautiful with leaf printed wallpaper and a softer green cabinet will feel like a spa when the tile is pebble or wood look.
